Alert Operator

As SLIK processes each job  both error and custom alert messages may be remitted.  SLIK alerts the nominated Batch Administrator(s) of any errors encountered, or actions completed that generated custom alert messages referenced from a job, using either the email or pager notification facility available in SLIK.

A column is provided in the Alert Operator Maintenance form that allows you to specify one or more file/path patterns to send with the email.  Use a semicolon to separate the file patterns.

e.g [C:\SLIK\Output\*.txt;C:\SLIK\Output\*.log]

An alert is a user-defined message to be sent via email.  Each recipient has to be first defined in the Administrator  table.  Refer here for instructions on creating Administrator records.

The special administrator name “<Batch Administrator>” provides a way to define generic alert messages that get sent to the appropriate batch administrator at run time. When SLIK processes an alert message and sees the special label, "<Batch Administrator>", it substitutes this for the administrator specified in the batch. Using this special administrator name reduces the need to duplicate a lot of general-purpose messages, typically using SLIK variables, which need to be sent to various administrators.

Alert records are created using the following form:
