The EDI Transfer operation provides a
mechanism to import and export flat-files (i.e., text files) to and from an ODBC
database. Flat files can be either
delimited by a character or fixed length.
An EDI Transfer
can be viewed as
a specialised form of column mappings. When
defining an EDI Transfer you specify the operation type (i.e., Import or
Export), and one or more record types (e.g. HDR, DTL etc) with each type
referring to a (predefined) column mapping.
