EDI Transfer Record

When creating an EDI column mapping record you define the column names and types and in particular the order of the columns in the import/export file.

Note: as there is no need to "map" a source column to a destination column this process can also be referred to as EDI column definitions rather than column mappings.

Creating an EDI Transfer record involves three distinct steps.  Firstly you create the Transfer details, then the Mapping details and finally, the Column details.  Each task is outlined below.

Create the Transfer Details

1.       Select Maintain ® EDI ® EDI Transfer to invoke the EDI Transfer Properties form.

The EDI Transfer Properties form details the ID, name, file type, transfer type, target save directory and whether the transferred file is able to overwrite any pre-existing files of the same name.

2.       Click on the Transfer button to invoke a new entry line.  The TransferID field will automatically populate on Close with a system generated unique identifier.

3.       Enter a name for the transfer into the TransferName field.

4.       Select the file type appropriate to the file to be transferred from the FileTypeID field drop-down menu.

5.       Select the transfer type from to be used from the TransferTypeID field drop-down menu.

6.       If appropriate, select the directory the transferred file is to be saved into from the SaveDirectoryID drop-down menu.

7.       Using the OverwriteSavedFile check box indicate whether the file to be transferred is able to overwrite any pre-existing files of the same name.

3.       Select the appropriate Table identifier from the TableID field drop-down menu.

4.       If required, enter a WHERE condition into the WhereCondition field.

2.       For each column to be transferred select the column identifier from the ColumnID field and enter a sequence number into the ColumnSequence field to indicate what order the column’s contents should be transferred.

3.       Using the ConversionID field select the value to indicate the type of data conversion to be actioned.

4.       Check the DealerKey check box if the column refers to the Dealer Key value to use for the transfer.

6.       Check the Counter check box if a counter function applies to the column.

7.       Check the FileSequence check box if a specified file sequence is applicable for the column. Only one file sequence column applies to a specific column mapping. If more that one is specified only the last column is referred to.
