To complete the SLIK Configuration
Properties General tab follow the steps below:
1.
Choose Maintain
®
Configuration to open the Configuration form.

Enter the current database version in the SLIK Version Number field. This value is used to ensure that the SLIK Server is compatible with the database schema. The SLIK server checks this column at startup time and displays an error dialog if the program version does not match the database version.
Using the SLIK Administrator
drop-down list select the required SLIK Administrator.
To add a Administrator group use the ‘…’ button beside the
drop-down list.
Using the Schedule Poll Interval
field
time selection buttons
select the required time interval to indicate how often the
SLIK server checks to see if any batch jobs are due. The value is in number of seconds to sleep. A good default
would be between 30 and 60 seconds.
Using the Thread Control
fields indicate how many threads will run concurrently. Each batch is processed in a separate thread so multiple
batches can run concurrently. Each
job
in a batch will
run sequentially. Complete the fields as required:
indicate the minimum number of threads
that can run concurrently in the Minimum
field;
indicate the maximum number of threads
that can run concurrently in the Maximum
field; and
using the Time
to Live
time selection
buttons
select the elapsed time of inactivity in the threads in excess
of the minimum number specified after which Thread Control returns to the
minimum number of allowable threads.
Use the Enable Processing
check box to
indicate the current processing status of the SLIK server.
Note: if this option is disabled then no processing will occur.
Tip: should you need to disable all SLIK processing, perhaps due to a remote
server upgrade, then un-checking the Enable
Processing check box provides you with a one step
option as opposed to disabling all individual SLIK Batches. SLIK will complete
processing of the currently running batches but will not start any new batches.
Use the Shutdown SLIK Server
check box to
indicate whether the server should shutdown.
On each schedule poll interval the server checks this column and if
enabled will perform a graceful shutdown of the server process. Potentially this
update can be done in a SLIK Batch using an SQL statement. When the server is
shutdown remotely all active jobs will complete before the server shuts down.
Note: once the shutdown request has been sent to the server no new SLIK
Batches will activate.
Use the Run
Past Due
(one
time only) check box to indicate whether a one-off
‘catch-up’ run of all batches gone past their run time should be run.
By
default when the SLIK server starts it normally processes all past due batches.
However you can configure the SLIK server to disregard any overdue batches when
starting. This is determined by the “Process Past Due Batches” low level
(registry) setting that can be set using the standalone program,
“SLIKConfig.exe”. Consequently this option is mainly provided to override
the “standard” startup that does not run past due batches to just run them
this one time. Note: The SLIK server will always unset this checkbox after
starting.
Using the Log Warnings
check box
indicate whether any warning messages generated by ODBC are to be included in
the error log.
In the Output
Directory
field enter the
required output directory. The
output directory is used by SLIK to store any intermediate files such as
“Filtered Command” standard output files or ODBC reports. To browse to the
required directory click on the
button to open the standard Windows browse functionality.
Input the number of rows to display copy progress
messages when performing a transfer directly into the Copy Progress Row Count
field.
Setting this field to 0 (or DB Null) will disable the progress status
message in the SLIK Monitor programme.
Save your entries by clicking on the Apply
button and/or continue with the MAPI (Mail) tab instructions following.
