As integrating data systems may
require you to access data on other systems SLIK provides a facility to Map
Drives within the NT domain. When a
SLIK batch runs that requires a drive to be mapped, even temporarily, it is
possible to automate the process. This
is done using the Map Drive Properties form.
SLIK provides a drive mapping function
to eliminate the need to call an external program to map a drive (i.e., net
use).
Drive Maps are created using the
following form:

|
The Map Drive ID field holds the
system generated unique identifier. The
Map Drive ID field automatically populates on creation of the Mapping
record. The Map Drive record
is created when you click on
OK to save and close the new record. Field value type: system
generated |
|
|
The drive name for the drive you
want to Map to when mapping a network resource and assigning a local name,
(e.g., X:). |
|
|
The value in the Remote Name
field indicates the drive that will be mapped as part of the Job
processing, (e.g., \\SERVER\Share\EDI
Data). |
|
|
The value in the User Name field
should be the appropriate user login name, if required, that SLIK uses to
log into the new drive. |
|
|
The value in the Password field
should be the user password associated with the user noted in the User
Name field. |
|
|
The Connection Option check
buttons define the treatment of the mapped and other drives that may be
impacted when SLIK maps to the drive defined in this Operation. Reuse
– checking this value causes SLIK to reuse a drive mapping if already
present. Drop
Existing – checking this value indicates that
prior to mapping to the drive defined by this Operation any existing
mapped drive should be dropped. Force
Drop – allows the user to prescribe whether
SLIK can override the sharing constraint, i.e. drop a mapping that may be
in use by another user. |
