The SLIK Control Database holds all
SLIK batches and jobs. It is
possible to have multiple control databases, i.e. Test and Production.
Use the New button
to connect to
an alternative SLIK Control Database. To create a shortcut to a specific SLIK
Control Database you can save it to a file with an extension of “.SLIK”
using the menu option File ®
Save As.
This section describes the system configuration necessary to run SLIK
and how to access the SLIK application.
Before you can use SLIK you must have a Data Source typically named
SLIKDB configured on your PC.
To check whether the Data Source is loaded follow the steps below:

Choose Start ® Settings ® Control Panel to
open the Control Panel window
.

Select the appropriate access depending on whether you are using an NT
or Windows 2000 PC:

On an NT PC double-click on the ODBC Data
Sources (32bit)
icon to open the OCBC Data Source Administrator
4.
On a Windows 2000 PC double-click on the Administration Tools icon and
then double-click on the ODBC Data Sources (32bit)
icon to open the OCBC Data Source Administrator.

Click on the System DSN tab to open the System Data Sources:
window.

If the entry SLIKDB, as shown above, is present press Cancel
or OK
to exit the ODBC Data Source Administrator and close the Control Panel.

If the SLIKDB is not listed in the System Data Source window follow the
steps detailed below.
To add the SLIKDB to the System Data Sources window follow the steps
below:

From within the ODBC Data Source Administrator, System DSN tab click on
the Add
button to invoke the Create New Data Source window.

Locate and select SQL Server and click on the Finish button. The following window will
be displayed:

Input SLIKDB in the Name:
field.

Input an appropriate description in the Description:
field.
12.
Input the name of the server the Data Source is located on in the Server:
field. For example:

Click on the Next > button to move to the next window.

Ensure that authentication is set to NT authentication.
15.
To change the network library used with your SQL server click on the Client
Configuration button and

Using the associated check box indicate whether additional configuration options
are required. Once the correct
network library has been selected click on the OK
button to return to the New Data Source wizard.
Click on the
OK button
to return to the Create a New Data Source to SQL Server wizard.

Click on the Next > button to move to the next window.

Using the associated check boxes indicate the task you want to perform
and options you require. If an
alternative database file is required it can be selected using the Change
the default database to: drop-down list.

Click on the Next > button to move to the next window.

19.
Using the associated check boxes indicate your required options for the
system generated messages language, regional settings and log files.
If an alternative language file is required it can be selected using the Change the language of SQL
Server system messages to:
drop-down list.
20.
Click on the Finish button to complete the addition of the new
DataSource.
