The SLIK Monitor allows you to view
the current status of processing on the SLIK Server
.
The SLIK Monitor is accessed by:
1.
Choosing Tools ® Monitor
from within the SLIK Interface Designer application.
The SLIK Monitor can also be accessed by clicking on the application icon
or via Start ® Programs® SLIK Monitor.
This will invoke the Connect to SLIK Server dialog box.

2.
Enter or select the required server from the Machine:
drop-down list and click on OK
to display the SLIK Monitor window.

The top window displays a tree view
that givens a visual representation of recent jobs processed.
The bottom also shows various details of running jobs.
The Minimize
button
will place the
application on the task bar.
The Shut
Down
option prompts you
with confirmation that you wish to shutdown the SLIK Server
.
On shutdown, SLIK waits for all
running batches to complete and any batches falling due are deferred.
Rather than always selecting the last
item in the status list box the SLIK server will only scroll the status window
if the selected item is the last one on the list. By selecting any other item it
makes it possible to manually scroll through the list without being interrupted
with updated status messages being selected.
The various process buttons are
summarised below
|
Button |
Description |
|
This button causes SLIK to
immediately check for any due jobs. SLIK
normally only checks jobs every Schedule Poll Interval
seconds.
This option is mainly useful during testing of interfaces when
combined with the Run Now
batch
option. |
|
|
State
… |
This button opens up a dialog
window that displays the state all running threads or batches. Running threads are shown with a check in the checkbox and
suspended threads are un-ticked. To
suspend or resume a particular thread check or uncheck the batch checkbox. |
|
This option stops new threads from
being processed. Selecting
Schedule resets this option and ensures new threads (i.e. batches) are
started. This includes any
batches that may not have run, because the server was disabled at the
time, to be processed (i.e. past due). |
|
|
SLIK displays a dialog window
showing each running batch by name. Checking
the checkbox in front of the batch name will mark the current job as
aborted and will stop further processing of batch jobs. |
|
|
This button displays a dialog box
showing all the cached database connections.
Each connection has the form BatchID:Datasource.
The BatchID refers to the batch that opened the connection.
Checking the connection’s checkbox and pressing OK causes SLIK to
drop or disconnect from the database.
This feature is primarily useful if one of the servers SLIK is
caching has been shutdown. Care needs to be taken to ensure that the connection
selected to drop is not currently active as the connection is deleted
immediately. |
|
|
This slider
button allows you to filter messages that the SLIK server
displays
in the status window. Note,
all error conditions are shown regardless of the setting.
Move the slider to the right to increase the level of detail shown
in the status window. |
